Vacuum-state diodes
If this is better placed in the "pedal" forum, someone let know. I'm putting it here since I'm talking about tubes and bigger voltages.

Sometimes I like me a good fuzz tone, and I've been curious what signal clipping would sound like on tube diodes. Since it seems there are no current-production diodes (at least not to my knowledge,) I'm thinking about strapping the grids of a pair of triodes to their plates, biasing them up, and having a listen. Yes, it's an absolutely gluttonous use for good triodes, but I can't help wonder.

Before I go too far down this rabbit hole, has anyone here done anything like this before? Modeling suggests it can be made functional easy enough, but doesn't speak much to tone.
