HO switches
#1
Hi all

Didn't realise the forum was up and running somewhere so this is great!

Anyway, a simple one really. I'm in the process of putting a HO together for a bit of fun at home so I can see if I want to build more amps and at the moment I'm gathering all the components and I was wondering what people (in the uk, if there are any) are using for the power and standby switches and where your favourite place to get them is?

I will be photographing the build as it commences. I also won't be building the cab as I've got a Mesa MkivA that I'll use the EV in for now until I decide what to do about a cab.

Any help/pointers would be appreciated

Thanks

Matt

These should work for you. https://www.allparts.uk.com/collections/switches-amp Also, the standby switch is only useful to fill a hole in the front panel. Totally unnecessary.

Stack,

Merlin says essentially the same thing. What considerations are there for modifying existing designs to remove the standby? can it just be removed from the circuit? are there other changes that would need to be made ?

Yes! The SEL has the necessary modification to the cathode follower that you'd want to add; also a Merlin trick. In the SEL, (because it's newer than the HO) there is a diode D3 that should be added to the HO layout. Other than that, the standby switch can go away.
